THE UNREAL NATURE OF DISEASE (As appeared in Conscious Living magazine)
Part 2 of the extract from Sky’s book Love’s Alchemy, proclaims the miraculous power of love.
There is only one power. Whatever we may call it, it is the source and substance of everything. Nothing can happen without it. Therefore, to resist something or struggle to overcome something, is utterly counterproductive. Your resistance or struggle, using the only power there is, creates further the experience of resistance or struggling. You will continue to resist and struggle as long as you believe there is something to resist or struggle against. As long as you resist it, fight it and struggle against it, you are giving it power and making it real. When you resist, fight and struggle, you engage and empower. In this way you are forever bound to that which you resist.
The only way to overcome is to realise there is nothing to overcome. The only way to heal is to realise the unreal nature of disease. Once you realise this, you are free to love. Awareness that only the divine exists transforms the very manifestation of disease, lack and limitation. Divine awareness creates divinely, regardless of appearance. If you recognise everything as divine design, the design unfolds divinely.
How can it be so simple? And why do so many people stay stuck in disease if it is so simple? Even the answer is simple. Transcendence is not part-time. We continue to believe there is something to resist or struggle against. We may have a moment of the divine, when we see clearly the awesome magnificence and perfection of life. Indeed, we may have many such moments, glimpses of what we long for. But what we long for exists always in the present moment. The present moment holds the divine presence. When we go somewhere else in our minds, we leave that which is always present. We forget the Truth and, in our forgetfulness, we resist and struggle against what we think is wrong. All that can ever be wrong is that we think something is wrong. In our thinking, wrong is created, which begets more and more wrongs, perpetrating violence on ourselves, our families, on our communities and between nations.
Our resistance binds us to exactly what we are resisting. Our belief validates and empowers. While we maintain this belief, we will continue to resist and struggle. We are using the creative power, which is the only power there is, to create an ongoing experience of resistance and struggle. Remember, mind manifests matter. As you think, so shall it be. The more you think you are addicted, the more addicted you will be. The more you resist the substance or the behaviour the more you create the experience of resistance.
Violence, be it addiction or war, begets more of the same. We all know this eternal struggle in one way or another, but how do we escape it? How do we transcend to a reality that sees no problem, where violence and sorrow do not have a reality?
To deny, resist, move away from, confront or ignore that which we experience as wrong may give us an answer of sorts or a means of escape, but that which is wrong continues. Whereas if you realise the lie that it is, see it for the untruth that it is, be aware of what is really real, you will see it for the illusory construct it is: a way of seeing informed by separation and fear. Being aware of what is really real requires the attention of your whole being. It requires the surrender of thinking, and in this silence, the choiceless awareness that nothing is wrong. This is the power of the present moment. This is where the divine presence is always present. Your presence dispels all sorrow, revealing love.
This is to know God, and in this knowing, the power of love will perform miracles. The power of love is miraculous, for the power of love is God.
Life is the grace of God. Every miraculous moment of it. Imagine the sky with no planets, stars and sun to embrace. Just a vast lifeless endlessness. Imagine a tree without the flow of sap, without a blanket of its dead leaves below on the winter ground, and without the delicate fresh green shoots of spring newly arrived. Imagine a flute without breath to make music. Imagine God without life to express love. Life is God, and love constitutes life. Life and love are the constituents of God, the supply of existence. Life and love. Indeed, in a manner of speaking, existence is God’s love life.
The inner meaning of the word God is love. Love is the divine essence that God is. And life exactly as it is, is love’s way. To be willing to see the divine in all enables love, even for the most unlovely. This is real love and invites real transformation. To love is God.
Love is our abundance. Love supplies all the riches of life: wisdom, intelligence, beauty, happiness and prosperity. “They shall prosper that love.”
Having said that, we can have all the money in the world, all the success and all the power, but without love we have nothing. Paul expresses this so superbly in his letter to the Corinthians:
Though I speak with the tongue of men and angels,
but have not love,
I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
Though I have the gift of prophecy,
and understand all mysteries and all knowledge,
and though I have all faith,
so that I could move mountains,
but have not love,
I am nothing.
Though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
and surrender all selfish needs,
but have not love,
it profits me nothing.
God is love, and love is the law of life. “For all the law is fulfilled in one word.” And that word is love.
Lack and limitation is the lack and limitation of love. In other words, the absence of love. In Truth, God is all there is, so we are never separate from our supply. Love’s alchemy is the transformation of disease, fear, greed, selfishness and suffering into the facets of love: wisdom, intelligence, beauty, happiness, peace and prosperity. Please understand, the only true difference between disease and peace is awareness; the only difference between suffering and happiness is awareness. In love, my awareness is of the perfection of life, and I am happy.
Love life, and life will love you. Honour existence, and existence will honour you.
Give to the world, and the world will give to you, beyond your wildest imagination.
