Sky was born in Zimbabwe and has lived in South Africa, the UK and now Australia. She describes her spiritual journey as very ordinary. “Everybody else seemed to follow exciting and exotic paths. My grandmother has practised Tibetan Buddhism for 50 years; my aunt follows Taoism; and my parents, the charismatic movement of Christianity.” Somehow she was never able to commit to a particular way wanting only to find the way. “Of course, what I discovered at the heart of each unique way was the kernel of truth that is universal wisdom.”
As a child in Africa, Sky had a deep longing for that which she could not name. “When I was a little girl, I thought there was a wonderland somewhere, and if I was very good and very diligent, I would be allowed into that wonderland.” One Sunday afternoon, at a very early age, Sky had an extraordinary realisation. “I realised I am God, but was told this was untrue. Now I know it to be not only true but the ultimate Truth.”
At the age of 13 she started meditating and practising yoga with her mother. Wanting to understand why we are the way we are, she went to university and completed a Bachelor of Social Sciences and an M.A. in Psychology. This was followed with a conventional career in fashion and human resources. Finding little real fulfilment, Sky left the commercial world and devoted herself to the deep call to find the real meaning and purpose of this human existence. Her journeying took her to Bali where she sat with Gangaji and found the confirmation she had been looking for in the most perfect and appropriate way. She also went to India and met H. W. L. Poonjaji, a devotee of the great sage Ramana Maharshi. Poonjaji, otherwise known affectionately as Papaji, told her that she had had many lives and was “to finish herself”.
Through the great wisdom teachings, Sky came to a realisation of the beloved One. Recently published, her book Love's Alchemy reflects love as a consciousness of unity. "It simply means realising that there is no such thing as a truly separate and personal I. In this awareness we recognise how impersonal our enlightenment is. The paradox is how deeply personal and intimate the impersonal is." Most appealing is the message that what makes us truly happy causes transformation and thus we fulfill our purpose in the evolution of the cosmos. "In the direct experience of the divine, love appears and transforms all that we fear into all that we long for. This is love’s alchemy."
In 1989 Sky started working as a spiritual therapist. “As a spiritual therapist, I am interested in showing how there is nothing really wrong. The more we know this to be true, the more transformation occurs, naturally and spontaneously. This is the mystery and the paradox.”
Sky recognises that the spiritual point of view is now necessary in every aspect of our society. “No longer can we afford to spend thirty years in the cave, on top of the mountain or in the monastery. Many wonderful people have done this for us over many years. Now we must bring this wisdom into the corporation, the suburban home and the inner city. The global environmental crisis we now face requires each of us to realise that we are the ‘alchemist’. In our individual and unique realisation, we fulfill humanity’s purpose in the evolution of the cosmos.”
To this end Sky has her consultancy in Sydney, where she offers courses in Love’s Alchemy and private session work. She also invites people to her beautiful home in the Promised Land, a valley near Bellingen in NSW Australia, to share Love’s Alchemy in a deeper way. Teaching in Australia and the UK, Sky's invitation is to awaken to your true purpose.
